Adulting: God, Career & Everything Inbetween.

The major reason I’m writing this instead of putting it up on my WhatsApp story is that I don’t want many folks to read it. Lol

Last night, I was just catching up with a new friend and he asked me these questions: how are you in all these “process”? your mental health, growing up and all? — Well, that’s a lot to ask in one very tired night! I couldn’t deal with replying cos, I mean, where do I even start from.

So, this morning, I replied by saying these: “This… This right here is a lot… I mean, trying to do work a lot. Trying to think of what the future should look like and prepare adequately… Trying to get better on the job and earn more… Get more certifications… Then having to spend 4 hours every day on the road… In the midst of all these, knowing that I’m living for Christ and that’s my priority, I have to preach, teach, disciple others, attend meeting…. Mehnnn”

Well, that pretty much sums up how things have felt recently. The dream job isn’t looking as exciting as it once did even if I’m taking more responsibilities and touring Nigeria… I mean, I was in about 13 states within 3 weeks. Weekends haven’t been as useful as it should be — it’s either I’m out of Lagos or I’m just too tired to do the needful or I just get overwhelmed by the thoughts of the things to be done. It’s hard fam! TBH! The mistakes, the many falls, and pick-ups, acting way below expectations amongst others. I must say though, in the midst of all of these, knowing that someone in me loves me regardless of me really helps. In the last 12 months, I’ve been in situations I never could have imagined. But yay, I’m still standing.
The funny thing is sometimes you tell folks how things appear and they are quick to dismiss it and say “man up”! Arrhg, Man what? Lol.

Why all of these plenty stories?
1. To tell you that you’re not alone in this struggle or stress that comes with this phase of our lives. And honestly, we might not necessarily get less busy. But, we certainly will get better on how to manage things.
2. There will be a time when I’d have things working out as planned and I’d like to remind folks that life is in phases — good, & bad.
3. To encourage you not to give up or give in. Hang in tight, please. This phase too will pass.
4. To tell you that we can talk! Yes, let’s help us get better. There is this notion that you must be all fine by yourself. I wouldn’t say so.
5. Lastly, to remind you that it's important you are fine — body & soul. Pay attention to your health and mind. Calm down!

In conclusion, life will come with its turns and moments and we might not always get the results we desire. But fam, it’s too late to quit! If need be, find someone you can talk to — you don’t always have to bottle up everything inside.

FAM, LAS LAS, WE GO DEY ALRIGHT! HANG IN THERE!
